We are seated poolside on our lower deck at about 2pm Thursday afternoon, just sitting, being together, enjoying being father and son. Oh, and listening to classic country western music.
Dad: How hot is it right now?
Me: Let me check…80 degrees. A nice day, huh?
Some moments go by. He had just hung up with Gloria who mentioned it was 99 degrees in Yakima.
D: We should go swimming.
M: WHAT?
M: What Dad?
D: We should go swimming.
Okay.
So, we did.
And then we had a snack after.
My father went swimming today!
My spirits were soaring!!!
T plus 18 days… and swimming, er, counting.
With all the "goings on" in my life, I look forward to the quiet moments when i can absorb the words that you share. Sometimes we are so immersed in our own little story that we forget to reach beyond that and truly take an interest in something other than our selves. Would it have made a difference? Whats done is done. Can it make a difference now? Absolutely! Stop and listen...Be present.... Care and love. Embrace the story, feel the cool water and the sun on your face. But most of all, feel the connection, the heartbeat of life, sitting next to you, poolside, snacking....
Its all there, you just have to want to listen. Thank you for your lessons .....may they never end.
Enjoyed seeing Wally enjoying himself. Thank you for giving us the chance to keep in touch.
