One of the things that I have found delightful on Substack is how readers will add onto the creativity of writers in respectful and imaginative ways—just like you’ve done here Henrik. In fact, I consider it a humble honor that you have done so with mine. Together, we created something new and whimsical. FUN!!! Thank you for this gift.
I had this same thought and tried to see how I could include it in the poem but I never found the right words—would have taken the poem to a different place. Which is why I’m grateful you added it here in the comments! Thank you Jeffrey!
Fortunate to live in a semi-tropical environment where we have blooms and blossoms all. year round.
While I enjoy all four seasons for what each one contributes, at this stage, I don't miss the cold winters very much but will say there's great comfort sitting in front of a fire while the cold winds and snow blow outside.
Years ago, when we visited the Yucatan and took a tour of Chitzen Itza, we struck up a conversation with one of our native guides (he was, maybe, 50+ years old.) He shared one of his dreams, before he died, was to be in a place where he could feel snow. He’d never experienced snow.
Yes, there are millions who have not experienced the magic of snow, who live where seasons are not so distinct and delightful. I've had enough of snow and cold and for a number of years, we were regarded as "snowbirds" which meant something different from what the word suggests. Not birds in the snow but birds who migrate south in the winter to get to a warmer climate. Now we sometimes go north in the summer, esp during May which is the hottest month here. Following our internal GPS.
A promise for the coming year
I'm strong, I'll be here
I greet you now in autumn sun
Remembering the summer fun.
Now THAT’s cool!

You're welcome, your poetry was inspiring, and the words just came flying to me.
A late bloom…maybe like some of us
Right???
