I thought to myself, "Well, Kert seems like he's a member of my tribe. Let me check out out his Substack." Yes, I actually thought that. Shame on me. But when I landed on your home page, "November 6 will be here soon enough," caught my eye, and it was not accompanied by an offensive photo of said so-called billionaire, so this is the post I chose to read. And oh boy, am I glad I did! I agree with every single thing you said, though I could not have expressed it as well as you have. I volunteer and donate - try to do my part to ensure the sun rises where I want it to on November 6. But I do worry, what then? I know the divisiveness is not going to simply go away, even if the result "goes my way." I am no Desmond Tutu. I am not even a Derwin Norwood (maybe.) But I believe you are correct, we have a choice to make. I have not chosen yet, but I will not be forgetting your words as we head towards November. But first, I am going to subscribe and re-stack. YES, we are of the same tribe--and let us never stop trying to include everyone in it. THAT’s our calling, right? Honestly, I’m blown away by your generosity through language. I’m not out to “get subscribers” in this space. And I’ve committed to never turn on the paid feature. I began thus Substack journey initially to keep my family posted on my Dad who was with me 24/7 while he journeyed to his death with his partners Demential and Parkinsons. I tried to capture his “Elderings” for posterity. After he died last year, I enjoyed writing so much, in addition to it being cathartic, and it’s evolved to what it is as I simply try to perform alchemy on every moment to better my life and those I love--to wit includes most everyone and every living thing. Know, Cherie, how much your comment meant to me tonight. I’ve already archived it. Thank you. Now I’ll gladly pull up a chair for you when Barack and Michelle show up.
