My story is nothing like the story of Story. In fact, mine is the commonest of all human experiences. I wanted to help out and was led by a series of incidents to become a social worker and I got to work from the Copper Country in Ontonagon to the Furniture City of Grand Rapids. When I retired, I moved to the mountains like almost everyone else, it seems.

And yet that’s impressive too! And I have learned from you Charles—which is why I look forward to what you write.

We've got the telepathy mojo going, too.

I recognized his name, but not his face or his small s story. Thanks for this, and the book recommendations, Kert. And btw, if you don't already know, the Yakima Valley Museum has a small but interesting exhibit nook about William O. Douglas.

This is so fun to explore these connections with you. I have been to the Yakima Museum and did take in that exhibit. I’ve also visited his ranch out in Goose Prairie which is about an hour west of Yakima in the Cascade foothills. And when I was able to take in a session at the US Supreme court, i took a selfie with his bust. Fun memories!

It is fun! I’m adding his ranch in Goose Prairie to the list for my next visit to Yakima.

Excellent, thank you! I’ve forwarded it to my son as well - it would not surprise me if he’s already been there. If he hasn’t, I bet he’ll go before I even get a chance to visit. I remember he told me that he had read a book (by or about?) Justice Douglas that he enjoyed, so I’ve asked him to remind me of the name.

I love biographies and learning of exceptional people. Thanks for bringing Story front and center and teaching me more.
