This wasn’t the post I had planned, drafted, and scheduled for today. Instead…
We called for Trevor and Clary (my brothers) to come to our home yesterday. And both are here now.
We are now holding a bedside vigil with Dad as our sole focal point of love. Dad is resting comfortably, he is warm, he and the room are calm and peaceful, we have soft music playing, and we are constantly by his side now with loving touches of hands being held amidst our countless “We Love You’s.” He is non-responsive and in no pain.
We are recalling unspoken memories in our hearts even as we share aloud some of the memories we have of our Dad. So many of those memories include so many of you.
Three days ago, things changed with Dad—and from that point on, he’s been slipping away from us as it now looks like he, his body, and his soul, are taking active steps toward letting go on what looks like the last stage of his Journey Home. As we live each moment with him now, fully with our hearts wide open, we also are holding lightly in our hearts how something can be so tenderly unexpected and expected at the same time.
We know you send your warm thoughts; we know you will be thinking of Dad and the family he is still so proud of, no matter how well you knew him. As is appropriate, I will keep you posted using this Substack format in the days to come.
Thank you for keeping an interest in a humble man we love dearly and in whom we, ourselves, are so proud. It has been my deepest honor to have shared him with you all this past year.
In love, always love,
Kert

Dearest Kert,
Blessings to you and your amazing family! Beginning with the Patriarch, your Dad.
My prayers and love are with all of you, not only the journey of this past year but in these final days. Give Kristen a hug and one for yourself.
Blessings,
Konnie
Praying for peace of heart and soul for your dad and all of your family. Thank you for taking the time and thought to teach us about your dad's journey, life, and especially LOVE and COMPASSION in abundance! YOUR CHOICE on your perspective, focus and mind set visits me daily, a mindful position my brother had in my life up until a year ago. Thank you for the enlightenment and direction. The choices are our own of how we look at life.... Thankful...
