I love this idea of a final tour and final goodbyes to the places on earth we inhabit. I can tell it warmed your hearts to share those memories. You are lucky all of these places are close to each other! That is likely due to your Dad being a farmer and staying near his roots. For many people in our generation, the places they have lived in their lifetime may be quite far apart.

Thank you Sally. It WAS a beautiful day that went by way too fast. Yes, Dad NEVER left the Yakima valley for almost 84 years. It was when he moved over to be with us on the west side of the Cascades that he lived in a place some distance from the valley. And I know he missed it—the soil there strongly in his memory. As for the places of the younger generations—I identify with that too since I have moved away from the valley quite a number of years ago. But the places of my life are only distant geographically; luckily we can revisit them any time we want through memory. But it is SO much fun to see how some things change and so many things stay frozen in time.

Just promise to not drive 110 mph anymore. Even in the Shelby! LOL!!! Mom’s watching, afterall. Dad might have said “Just don’t crash if you are going to do that.” He’s the one who was kinda proud of being pulled over twice in the same day by two different police officers for going a little too fast in a certain red Ford F150 pickup—the one when the hitch ball was all nice and shiny.

Wally’s sign kind of sum’s it up. He may not be there physically to work the field but I’m sure he will be supervising. Great memories.

Thanks Jim. Dad got REALLY good at supervising. Like, WAY too good. Just ask my brother Trevor some time.

How lovely! You are in one of the sacred stages where you get to retrace the past guided by memories, addresses, and images. I'm so happy for you and your brothers that you're getting this full experience. Not sure if you were at A Sacred Moment during the cremation. I like to think that every cremated being gets the full Diego treatment, depicted in the Japanese movie, Okiribito. It's subtitled in English and will definitely give you goosebumps as you watch the sacredness of being a part of the departure process: https://youtu.be/vtUSiGcU2c8. Stay blessed as you retrace your dad's life and the places that hold parts of him.

Goosebumps, Kert. And I can hear your "voice" in your Dad's obituary. Every word, perfect.
