Yes! Thank YOU Yolanda. Memories can sometimes venture into all the myriad of emotions upon the death of a parent. I was fortunate. As I said, I won the Dad lottery. And it sounds as if you did as well.
Love “Being in the world”, really wonderful to learn more about your Dad. His presence is felt within your words. Quite knowledge settling in - beautiful ✨💫💙💫✨
This described my dad and me perfectly also. I also had won the dad lottery for the same reasons you describe. Mine physically left seven years ago, but his farmer inherent goodness and love of nature lives on in me and others. He's forever with me! 🚜💙
Snippets of our conversation surfaced in my mind as I read this and it brought a smile to my face. Thank you for sharing your journey and through it, enriching ours.
I know, right? I won’t ever be “that” guy who says to someone in conversation: “Oh, I just wrote about that, you should read what I wrote. I’ll send you a link.” I had written that post just days before so much of that was in my mind as we were talking about your own writing on this format. 💙
Your beautiful tribute brought tears to my eyes as I remembered walking that path with my parents. It's been almost seven years, and I still feel the same way: "Did I call her today and check in on them?" "Seven years, how can that be?"
Thanks for sharing your dad and a few memories with us, Kert.
Here’s to fine fathers,
to what lives beyond the flesh,
to faithful farmers!
Thank you as well for
the restack, honoring Dad.
Though no poet, he’d smile
Four generations.
Aren’t farmers poets too?
And daughters, babies.
Among the crops grown,
we, his fruit, benefitted
the most from his love.
Kert, reading your post reminded me of moments with my father who passed in 2015. I had a beautiful relationship with mine. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏽

We’re lucky. 🙏🏼

Just…YES! Thank you kindred spirit! We recognize each other as well by our fathers.
